Pima County Sheriff¡¯s Department New MRO Hangar

Pima County set out to build a new maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) hangar to support their Sheriff¡¯s Department¡¯s need for a larger, customized facility to accommodate new aircraft equipped with surveillance technology. The County selected the design-build team of Sundt Construction and ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ to deliver this fast-track project.

We moved quickly into pre-construction, locking in steel prices early to establish cost efficiency and timely delivery. The project also required close coordination with the Tucson Airport Authority for infrastructure connections like the taxiway and waterline.

The new hangar, located across the airport from the County¡¯s previous hangar facility at Tucson International Airport, supports round-the-clock emergency operations. Designed to meet the evolving needs of the Sheriff's Department, the facility includes a mix of aviation, maintenance, parking, and administrative spaces. We also developed the facility with long-term functionality and operational flexibility in mind to better support adaptation to future demands.

With a 40-year ground lease in place, the hangar represents a long-term investment in public safety infrastructure for Pima County.
