Shura Links Golf Course and Villas ¨C Engineering Services
Red Sea Global had a vision for developing a sustainable golf course¡ªSaudi?Arabia¡¯s first 18-hole island golf course¡ªas well as a clubhouse and 75 luxury residential villas on Shura Island. They engaged us to help bring their project to life on this remote, ecologically sensitive site.
We delivered comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and information and communication technology services, as well as energy modeling, structural, civil, and infrastructure engineering for the clubhouse and residential villas. Because the clubhouse had originally been designed with steel, we re-engineered it to use timber instead, aiming to meet sustainability goals. As the lead consultant, we engineered the design in close collaboration with architects and invested parties, enabling a seamless modular construction approach for the villas. Using digital coordination and modeling tools, we chose materials and construction methods to align with LEED Platinum targets and net zero ambitions. Every element was pre-fitted, and we selected materials based on durability and low environmental impact.
The clubhouse is cooled using a centralized, high-efficiency district cooling plant. Each villa incorporates passive cooling strategies to reduce heat gain and takes advantage of natural light. The villas are shaped to follow the natural terrain and incorporate landscape elements like dune plantings, private pools, and water features to help regulate temperature. Both the clubhouse and the villas have smart building systems with automated lighting, climate control, and energy monitoring.
Designed to align with net zero operational goals, the clubhouse and villas reflect Red Sea Global¡¯s commitment to sustainable luxury and environmental stewardship.?
