Australian Hockey Centre
Western Australia has long been the heartland of Australian hockey, with Perth hosting the nation¡¯s men¡¯s and women¡¯s programs for decades. To meet the sport¡¯s growing needs and strengthen its position on the world stage, the WA Government is investing AUD$163 million ($107 million) to deliver the new Australian Hockey Centre (AHC).
Located on the existing Perth Hockey Stadium site at Curtin University, the AHC will transform a venue that has served the community since 1979 into a high-performance, international competition precinct. The project will provide Hockey Australia and Hockey WA with a future-ready home while continuing to support grassroots participation as part of the WA Government¡¯s PlayOn WA: 2030 by 2030 initiative.
We¡¯ve been working with the WA Government to deliver the full suite of buildings engineering services, from developing the project brief and continuing to deliver services through to construction and commissioning. A variety of service design initiatives, including photovoltaic onsite generation, improved indoor environment quality, LED lighting, energy monitoring, and energy efficient equipment, have been adopted to achieve a 5 Star Green Star certification.
Our work supports the creation of facilities designed for both elite performance and community access. Working within an active site with ongoing tenants, we have developed solutions that balance the needs of international and local players. Ultimately, this world-class sporting hub will have the latest engineering and environmental facilities needed to properly support future generations.
