Derek manages and coordinates field operations for ecological restoration projects of varying sizes and complexities across the US Midwest. He provides services related to woody and herbaceous invasive species control, native plant and seed installation, stream restoration, prescribed fires, and machinery operation on a wide range of ecological landscapes.
Over the course of his career, Derek has worked on a number of large-scale ecological restoration projects involving wetland mitigation, stream restoration, prairie establishment, and woodland restoration. These efforts have given him the opportunity to use a variety of his skills and experience to enhance native habitats over thousands of acres in the Chicagoland area. He ?has extensive training in equipment operation, including skid steer, tractor, and rough terrain vehicle and equipment transport. He is also a licensed commercial pesticide applicator in Illinois and Indiana and a certified prescribed burn manager in Illinois.
When he isn’t at work, Derek enjoys traveling with his family, coaching and supporting his three kids’ sporting endeavors, hunting, and fishing.
