Situated on the eastern slope of one of Colorado¡¯s renowned 14ers, Pikeview Quarry has been a cornerstone of the Colorado Springs community since its inception in 1903. The town owes much of its construction to the limestone extracted from the quarry.
Despite the notable role that Pikeview Quarry played in the growth of Colorado Springs, its century-long operation left a visible scar that residents widely disliked. The extraction of natural resources is not without consequences, and the quarry is no exception.
Now closed, Pikeview Quarry is transitioning into a new chapter. The visual blemish is being removed and the land will ultimately be reincorporated into the community through a three-step process: reclamation, restoration, and recreation. Once all phases are finalized and approved by the City of Colorado Springs, the rehabilitated site will be gifted for public use.
